Nursing Home Rates Continue to Rise

A recent survey found that the national average nursing home and assisted living facility rates increased from 2010 to 2011. Nursing home rates increased 4.4% in 2011. Assisted living facility rates increased by 5.6%. This brings the average nursing home rates to $87,235 for a private room and $78,110 for a semi-private room per year, while assisted living facility rates average $41,724 per year. Florida is above the national average for nursing home rates, but below average for assisted living facility rates. The full survey with these findings can be viewed HERE. Medicaid can assist those that qualify with the cost of nursing home and assisted living expenses. If you have any questions about whether you or your loved one may qualify for Medicaid, you should seek the advice of qualified counsel.
